Strings in the earth and air

A celebration of Joyce’s obsession with music.

Strings in the earth and air... is a theatrical adaptation of Joyce featuring excerpts from Chamber Music, Dubliners, Ulysses and Finnegans Wake. Intermingled with Benjamin Dwyer’s innovative and contemporary music-making, performer Nicole Rourke conjures the many worlds of Joyce in powerful and profound monologues.

This show also explores Joyce-inspired contemporary writings by Nuala O’Connor (Nora), and Rourke’s own hilarious and poignant odyssey through the sensual worlds of Joyce, Nora Barnacle, and Molly Bloom.

A captivating fusion of music, soundscaping and text, Strings in the earth and air... creates a new genre of theatre-making, and invites us to experience Joyce in a fresh and exciting way.
